Travel to Canada – Things You Need to Know

Getting an eTA is simple, as long as you meet the requirements. It’s processed in a closed-loop online system.
US green card holders do not need a visa
Using your US green card to enter Canada is the simplest way to get there. However, there may be other documentation you will need to make your trip easier.
If you plan on staying for more than a year, you may want to apply for a reentry permit. This document protects your green card status and can help you re-enter Canada smoothly. You can apply for the permit using Form I-131 – Application for Travel Document.
If you want to work while in Canada, you may also want to apply for a work permit. You should check with the government office that issues your visa to find out if you qualify for a work permit.
You may also want to apply for a travel document if you plan on studying in Canada. The study permit is not a visa, but you do need to carry your valid passport.
Vaccination required
Vaccination required for travel to Canada has become a lot more relaxed over the past few months. This is thanks to the Canadian government’s efforts to cut back on pandemic-era travel restrictions.
The government suspended mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements for federally-regulated industry workers, and will no longer require proof of vaccination for travelers arriving from outside of Canada. Quarantine plan
Whether you are traveling to Canada to visit family, to work, or for a vacation, it is important to understand the quarantine requirements. The government is strict with quarantine rules, and if you fail to comply with the requirements, you can be fined up to CAD $750,000.
