Getting Traveled to Canada by Means of an American Visa

Travel to Canada is now one of the easiest ways to get a visa for citizenship. Prior to 1990, travel to Canada was not easy to do. Canadian immigration authorities strictly limited entries into their country for foreign nationals coming from western Europe and North America. They also limited entries into Canada for citizens of several Latin American Countries.

At that time, it was necessary for a person who was travelling to Canada to have a special type of visitor visa. This visa was different from the regular type of visa that Canadian immigration officials granted. For example, there was a need to show proof that the individual was a Canadian citizen or a resident of Canada, that he or she had been registered at the Registration of Birth office in Canada and that he or she had a job which could be supported by valid written employment contract in Canada. In addition, if the applicant was travelling to Canada and his or her intended destination was another country that is part of the European Economic Community or the European Union, then he or she would also be required to enter Canada by travelling via the same visa.

As of today, this requirement for proof of citizenship no longer exists. Thus, anyone travelling to Canada now has the ability to apply for a visa without the need of having to prove his or her identity. In addition, anyone travelling to Canada and whose trip is extended by more than two weeks can stay up to fourteen days in the country. To demonstrate that you meet the new requirements, you must provide a form known as the immigrant visa application, which is available from the immigration department of the Canadian government.

You can apply for a tourist visa at any of the more than hundred visa offices which are found all across the country. However, the process of applying for a visa to Canada can become very confusing and time consuming. This is because the rules and regulations regarding immigration are very intricate. Therefore, if you do not know how to fill in your forms, you may find it difficult to proceed with the application. This is why it is essential that you know the basic requirements which are necessary for you to gain entry to Canada.

It is necessary for you to understand that Canada has a policy which requires people who wish to travel to Canada to be prepared to enter by means of a visa. For instance, if you want to enter Canada by means of a visa, you will have to ensure that you have obtained one before leaving for Canada. On the other hand, if you want to enter Canada by means of a passport, you must ensure that you have a valid passport and that you are not carrying any prohibited weapons that can be used to inflict harm upon people.

Moreover, if you are travelling to Canada through another country such as the United States, you must ensure that you have obtained a visa before leaving for Canada. In this regard, if you intend to travel to Canada by means of an American visa, you will have to adhere to the same entry requirements that apply to those travelling under a visa. Therefore, even though you will be required to have a visa before entering Canada, you will not necessarily need to apply for one. On the contrary, if you do not have to obtain a visa for entering Canada, you can still obtain a temporary one. For instance, if you are entering Canada by way of an American visa, you can obtain a temporary visa by paying an application fee.

If you are travelling from the United States to Canada and wish to remain in the country for a period of more than six months, you will need to be treated as a permanent resident. As a result, you will have to ensure that you have obtained a green card before embarking on your journey to Canada. Furthermore, if you are travelling between the United States and Canada and are in need of a temporary visitor card, you will also be required to follow the same process of obtaining a permanent resident card.

In addition to having your passport examined by the Canadian embassy, you will be required to make use of a special type of visa called the quarantine card. Quarantine cards are strictly monitored and controlled by Canadian immigration authorities. If a foreign national is found to be in need of a quarantine card, they will be required to obtain an exit visa before departure. If a foreign national is travelling to Canada using a private air service, the service provider may issue a special card to accompany the ticket. In the event that a foreign national is travelling to Canada via a plane, they should be provided with a copy of the quarantine card upon take-off.
